POS Machine & Hardware Price in Bangladesh (2026): Printers, Scanners, Drawers, Terminals

Ask "what does a POS machine cost in Bangladesh?" and you will get answers from ৳2,000 to ৳2 lakh, because "POS machine" means five different things. To one shop owner it is a ৳3,000 Bluetooth receipt printer paired with a phone. To another it is a 15-inch Posiflex touch terminal with a drawer, scanner, label printer and UPS. Both are right, and both are buying for a counter that loses power twice a day and prints a Mushak 6.3 invoice for a customer paying with bKash.

This guide puts real August 2026 BDT prices next to each piece of hardware, sourced from Star Tech, Ryans, BDStall and Daraz, and then tells you what a small grocery, a pharmacy, a supershop counter, a restaurant and a fashion shop actually need. First, what "POS machine" means in Bangladesh

The phrase covers four different setups, and the price gap between them is the whole story:

1. 1Phone or tablet plus a Bluetooth printer. The cheapest working till. Your Android phone runs the POS app; a 58mm printer prints the bill. Under ৳5,000 in hardware.
2. 2Android handheld POS terminal. A Sunmi-style device with a built-in printer and scanner camera. One box, one charger, works on battery during load-shedding. Roughly ৳10,000 to ৳30,000.
3. 3PC or laptop plus peripherals. A desktop you may already own, with an 80mm receipt printer, scanner and cash drawer. ৳15,000 to ৳30,000 on top of the PC.
4. 4All-in-one touch POS terminal. A fanless touch PC built for the counter, often with a customer-facing display. ৳50,000 to ৳90,000 for the terminal alone.

Note that a bank's card-swipe machine (the "POS machine" your bank offers for Visa and Mastercard) is a separate device, supplied by the bank, not something you buy from a computer shop. The prices below are for the retail counter hardware.

What each piece does, and when you can skip it

Receipt printer: 58mm or 80mm

A 58mm printer is cheaper, uses cheaper paper rolls, and is fine for a grocery bill with five to ten lines. An 80mm printer is the standard for supershops, pharmacies and restaurants because a Mushak 6.3 invoice with BIN, item-wise VAT and a bKash reference fits legibly without wrapping. For a PC counter, buy USB plus LAN so the printer can sit away from the terminal. For a phone-based till, Bluetooth. Budget ৳4,500–7,500 for a reliable 80mm unit with auto-cutter; the ৳19,000 Epson is a kitchen-grade printer for high-volume restaurants, not a grocery necessity.

Barcode scanner: 1D, 2D, wired, wireless

A 1D laser scanner reads the standard EAN barcodes on packaged goods and costs under ৳3,000. A 2D imager also reads QR codes, which matters more each year: bKash and Nagad merchant QR, pharma batch codes, and the QR many brands now print on cartons. The price gap between 1D and 2D at the entry level is now under ৳1,000, so buy 2D. Go wireless only if the counter is too cramped for a cable or you scan bulky items on the floor; a Sunlux or Netum wireless unit at ৳3,500–5,250 covers most shops. Zebra and Honeywell cost three to five times more and earn it only in very high-volume or rough environments.

Cash drawer

A ৳4,000–7,000 steel drawer with an RJ11 cable opens automatically when the printer fires a bill, which is the single best control against cash leakage at a busy counter. Count the note slots: Bangladesh circulates ৳5 to ৳1,000 notes, so a 5- or 6-note, 4-coin drawer is the practical minimum; the cheapest 4-slot "mini" drawers fill up by noon. If you run cash-only with one trusted family member at the till, skip it and put the ৳5,000 toward a UPS.

Label printer

Needed when you sell items without manufacturer barcodes: loose spices, bakery goods, fabric cut to length, repacked rice, own-brand items, or when you need a price label for every SKU. The Xprinter XP-420B at around ৳10,000 is the workhorse you will see in most Dhaka shops; label rolls are an ongoing cost. A packaged-goods grocery or a pharmacy selling only manufacturer-coded strips can often skip this entirely.

Android handheld terminal

The Sunmi V2 Pro at about ৳9,900 and V3 family at ৳17,000–30,000 combine a phone, a 58mm printer and a scanner camera in one device with a battery. They shine for tableside ordering, delivery riders, queue-busting at a supershop and any shop where load-shedding makes a PC-based till a liability. The limits are screen size and the 58mm bill; a pharmacy doing 300 lines a day will prefer a larger screen.

All-in-one touch terminal

At ৳50,000–90,000 for the unit alone, a touch terminal buys a fanless, spill-resistant machine with a second customer display and fast touch billing. It is the right call for a supershop with several counters or a busy fast-food front, and overkill for a single grocery counter, where a ৳35,000–45,000 desktop PC or refurbished laptop runs the same software.

Weighing scale

Any grocery, sweet shop, bakery or fruit seller needs a scale. A basic 30 kg digital scale is ৳2,500–4,000; a counting scale is about ৳7,500; a label-printing scale that prints a barcode with the weight and price, the type you see at Shwapno or Meena Bazar counters, is a different class of purchase altogether: the Rongta RLS1100 lists at ৳45,000 at Star Tech. Ask the software vendor which scale protocols they support before you buy; a scale that cannot talk to the POS just adds typing.

UPS

Not optional in Bangladesh. A 650VA unit at about ৳3,700 gives a PC, printer and router roughly 10–20 minutes, enough to finish the bills in hand and shut down cleanly. A 1200VA at ৳7,300 stretches that to 30–45 minutes with a small load. What you need per shop type

The table shows a practical starting kit and an indicative hardware total, excluding the PC or phone you may already own and excluding software. Figures use the mid-entry prices above, rounded.

Two rules of thumb. First, a multi-counter supershop should budget one UPS per counter, not one for the shop. Second, a second branch rarely needs the same kit as the first; a satellite outlet often runs well on an Android terminal and a printer while head office keeps the full counter. Hardware plus software: the real first-year number

Hardware is a one-off; software is where owners under-budget. Combine the kit above with the software options in our POS software price guide and a realistic first-year figure for one counter looks like this:

• Minimal grocery till: ৳15,000 hardware + MondayPOS Lite at ৳1,500/month billed yearly (৳18,000) = roughly ৳33,000 in year one, under ৳20,000 from year two.
• Pharmacy or fashion counter: ৳25,000 hardware + PC ৳40,000 + Business plan at ৳3,500/month (৳42,000) = roughly ৳1,07,000 in year one.
• Supershop with three counters: ৳1,00,000–2,50,000 hardware depending on touch terminals, + Business plan ৳3,500/month for the outlet (৳42,000/year), more if you add outlets at ৳2,450 each.

Buying checklist before you pay

Run through this at the shop or on the phone with the seller:

• Does the receipt printer have an auto-cutter and a cash-drawer (RJ11) port?
• Is the scanner 2D, and does it read the bKash merchant QR off a phone screen?
• Does the cash drawer have at least five note slots and a key override?
• Does the seller provide ESC/POS drivers for Windows, or is the printer Android/Bluetooth only?
• What is the warranty, in months, and is it serviced in Dhaka or sent abroad?
• Does the UPS have enough sockets for PC, printer and router, and is the battery replaceable locally?
• Has the POS vendor tested this exact model? Ask them for their supported list; ours is at hardware page.
• Can you get a proper VAT invoice for the hardware, so the purchase sits in your books?

Questions to ask at a POS software demo about hardware

1. 1Will the system print a full Mushak 6.3 invoice on this 80mm printer, and what does it look like on 58mm?
2. 2Open the cash drawer from a bill on screen. Does it also open on a bKash sale, or only cash?
3. 3Scan a bKash QR and a pharma batch barcode with a ৳2,000 2D scanner. Does the item and batch populate?
4. 4Pull the network cable. Print a bill. What happens when the cable goes back in?
5. 5Which label printers and label-printing scales do you support, and can you show a label generated from the item master?
6. 6If I start on an Android terminal and later move to a touch terminal, does the data move with me?

The bottom line

POS hardware in Bangladesh in 2026 is cheap at the entry level and only gets expensive when you choose branded or all-in-one gear. A working grocery counter is ৳12,000–20,000 of hardware; a pharmacy or fashion counter ৳18,000–35,000 plus a PC; a supershop lane or restaurant ৳30,000–1,10,000 depending on touch terminals and kitchen printing. Buy 2D over 1D, 80mm over 58mm for anything VAT-registered, a UPS at every counter, and only the label printer and scale your shop actually needs.
